This original Timeless Layers concept transforms your photograph into a one-of-a-kind mixed-media portrait honoring the person behind the uniform.

Your portrait is created from the photograph you provide and becomes the focal point of an original Timeless Layers composition. I build the artwork around the individual with expressive wings, translucent layers of color, painted and metallic details, texture, and an atmospheric background created specifically for the finished piece.

The photographs shown feature the first works created in this collection: a military service member and a law-enforcement officer. Your commissioned artwork will not be a reproduction of either piece. Each portrait and surrounding composition is individually created, making every finished work truly one of a kind.

HOW YOUR CUSTOM PORTRAIT IS CREATED

After purchase, you will provide a clear photograph of the person you would like featured. Whenever possible, please choose an image that clearly shows the individual as well as the uniform and distinguishing details you would like represented.

I create the portrait from your photograph, preserving the recognizable individual and incorporating the uniform, colors and distinguishing details visible in your image.

The portrait then becomes part of a larger original composition created in the layered Timeless Layers style.

Wings, background, color, texture, metallic details and surrounding elements are individually designed to complement the person and their service. Uniform details and insignia will be incorporated where the scale and quality of the source photograph allow.

Because each piece is individually created and finished, variations in brushwork, texture, metallic finishes and artistic interpretation are intentional characteristics of the artwork.

SIZE & FRAMING

Each commissioned portrait is created in a 16 × 20-inch format.

Artwork may be created vertically (16 × 20) or horizontally (20 × 16). Orientation will be determined by the photograph and the composition that best complements the individual.

Your finished artwork will arrive in a simple standard frame, ready to display. Frame style may vary slightly depending upon availability.

The standard frame is intentionally understated so the artwork remains the focal point. If you prefer a more decorative or substantial frame, the finished artwork can be reframed after arrival to complement your personal décor.

The finished work combines your personalized portrait with translucent painted layers, texture, metallic accents and individually created details.

CREATION & TURNAROUND TIME

Each portrait is individually created for you. Please allow approximately 3–4 weeks for creation after I receive an acceptable source photograph.

This timeframe is for creation of the artwork and does not include shipping time. During particularly busy periods, completion times may vary.

If your portrait is intended for a specific occasion—such as a retirement, deployment, graduation, birthday or memorial service—please contact me before ordering to discuss your date. I will always do my best to accommodate special timing, but expedited completion cannot be guaranteed.

Creation begins once I have received a photograph suitable for the portrait.

SOURCE PHOTOGRAPH AUTHORIZATION

By submitting a photograph to Timeless Layers for your commission, you represent that you own the photograph or have permission and authority to provide the photograph and authorize its use for creation of the commissioned artwork.

You are responsible for obtaining any necessary permission from the photographer, copyright owner or other applicable rights holder before submitting an image when applicable.

COPYRIGHT & OWNERSHIP

Your purchase includes ownership of the finished physical artwork created for your commission.

Unless otherwise agreed to in writing, the purchase of the physical artwork does not transfer copyright, reproduction rights or other intellectual-property rights in the original Timeless Layers artwork or composition.

Timeless Layers retains all applicable copyright and reproduction rights in the original artistic elements and finished composition, including the right to photograph and display the completed artwork.

The purchaser may display, gift or resell the physical original. The artwork may not be reproduced, copied, commercially distributed, used to create merchandise or derivative products, or otherwise commercially exploited without prior written permission from Timeless Layers.

PHOTOGRAPHY, PORTFOLIO & MARKETING USE

By purchasing a custom commission, you acknowledge and agree that Timeless Layers may photograph the completed artwork and may use photographs or other visual representations of the finished artwork for legitimate business and promotional purposes, including:

• Timeless Layers website and portfolio

• Etsy and other online marketplaces

• Social media

• Digital and printed advertising

• Promotional materials

• Exhibitions, applications and artist portfolios

• Examples of previous commissioned work

This permission applies to images of the finished Timeless Layers artwork and does not grant Timeless Layers independent permission to publish or distribute your original source photograph except as necessary to create your commission or as separately authorized by you.

If you would prefer that your completed commission remain private and not be used for public marketing or portfolio purposes, please notify me when placing your order.

CUSTOM ARTWORK

Because your piece is individually created specifically for you, differences between the source photograph and finished artwork are expected and are part of the artist's interpretation.

Colors may also appear somewhat different in photographs or on computer and mobile screens, particularly metallic finishes, which respond differently depending upon lighting and viewing angle.

Each commission is individually composed and created.

No two will ever be exactly alike.
